Cool Springs Gastroenterology

Here to Serve the Gastrointestinal Needs of Williamson County and Beyond

About Us

Cool Springs Gastroenterology recently opened its doors in February 2018 to care for the health care needs of adult and late teenage patients in Williamson County and beyond.  Dr. James Davenport started practicing in the Franklin/Cool Springs area in 2016 and has established himself as a top gastroenterologist in the area.  His goal has been to focus on meeting the colorectal cancer screening needs of the community as well as managing complex diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, and functional abdominal disorders.

Why Cool Springs Gastroenterology?

Quality of care.  Dr. Davenport prides himself on providing the most comprehensive care possible for the patient.  This is reflected by his excellent adenoma detection rate (ADR), which is a common measure for comparing the ability of an individual endoscopist.  Dr. Davenport uses FUSE endoscopic equipment with its renowned 330 degree viewing angles  along with the latest preparations (Clenpiq or Prepopik) to clear the colon for optimal visualization.  This translates into more adenomas detected and removed, and presumably less missed interval cancer in the future.

Where else does Cool Springs Gastroenterology excel?

Gastroesophageal Reflux.  Dr. Davenport has extensive training in gastroesophageal reflux, and is the only current gastroenterologist in Williamson County utilizing both Bravo pH testing and esophageal manometry within his practice.  He believes in evaluating a patient with reflux to determine whether behavioral modifications, long term medicines, or anti-reflux surgery is the best option for improving their symptoms.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease.  Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are life-altering and affect a patient particularly if not controlled.  Cool Springs GI manages patients from mild cases of Ulcerative Proctitis to complex Crohn's enterocolitis with the latest medications including biologic agents.

Liver Disease:  Dr. Davenport treats all types of viral hepatitis (Hepatitis B and C) and manages all aspects of liver disease and cirrhosis until a patient is potentially requiring transplantation.
